As a greater number of workers enjoy the freedom of being able to work from home, thanks to enhancements in technology and communication, home-based businesses in Wales have also been increasing their profits.
Data from a recent report sponsored by BT show that home-based businesses in Wales alone have generated around nine billion pounds in revenues. Hotspots for home offices in Wales include the urban areas of Cardiff and Swansea, where people are embracing the flexibility of being able to work from the comfort of their own homes.
The data also show that almost nine in every ten home businesses in Wales expect their revenues to increase next year despite the recession. This figure illustrates that running a business from home can be a lucrative option as well as a good option for avoiding stress and keeping a healthy work/life balance.
A researcher involved with the report stated, “basing a business at home is certainly no obstacle to growth as home business owners are making the most of technology to outsource work and collaborate with other talented minds. It’s a most modern way to grow, yet it is not recognised in business support programmes and policy.”
