An expert has claimed that those individuals who work from home are setting a great example to their offspring.
Parents who embrace the flexible working environment created by home working will pass on a good attitude towards work to their children, Annie Mueller of Investopedia, the education website has claimed.
Ms Mueller said that children who arrive home from school to see their parents working in their home office could well be influenced in terms of their future career and could be more likely to develop a positive attitude towards work.
Whilst she admitted that home working does take a good deal of self-discipline, focus and planning, Ms Mueller highlighted the benefits of doing so – namely the flexibility to be with the family, the time saved commuting and the idea of being your own boss.
"If you cultivate the character needed to be successful working from home, you'll get to carry that over into your personal, family and home life. Those benefits can be enormous," she added.
An expert from the Telework Association agreed with Ms Mueller, saying that homeworking had 'paid dividends' for many employees.
Shirley Borrett said that 'loyalty, motivation and productivity had vastly improved as a result of employees working from home.'
