The pressure to facilitate homeworking is being felt by an increasing number of businesses in the UK.
This is according to recent research from Citrix, which has revealed that more than one in five UK businesses feel under greater pressure to adopt increased workforce flexibility than five years ago.
It appears that this pressure is coming from within, as employees are keen to improve their work/life balance through the use of personal technology at home. Indeed, 21 per cent on UK firms are under more pressure to enable mobile or flexible working, with 30 per cent of companies reporting that this need to change is being pushed from within.
This compares to just 13 per cent of businesses which reported that the pressure is due to financial issues such as commercial competition, and 11 per cent of organisations which reported that the main push for change within their business is a need to lower travel budgets.
Andrew Millard, senior director of marketing for the EMEA region at Citrix Online, commented: “Over the past few years, small businesses in particular have come under significant commercial, regulatory and environmental pressure to enable greater workforce mobility.“
