Working from home has proven to be a successful project for one US-based man, who left his full-time job to set up on his own.
Speaking to the Indy Star, Steve Gray explained how his home office is where most days begin and end for his work as a renovator. He founded his firm, Steve Gray Renovations, in 2005 after almost 20 years in the industry working for other people.
After realising there was no room for progression with his employer, he now spends his time between his home office and his work truck. Fortunately, the change proved to be incredibly beneficial for Mr Gray.
“By the end of 2005, we had done a half million in business. I had a mental notebook of what works with people and what doesn't. I just knew I could do it,” he told the paper. He added that setting up his own company helped him to be “in control of my own destiny”.
However, Mr Gray stated that he does not do a lot of work on his own house, due to his preference for making money over spending it. However, his home office was created by renovating the house’s basement and some work has been done on the patios around the property.
