Global telecoms operation BT is to deploy a range of technologies that will give around 1,200 German Unilever employees the chance to work from their own homes, it has been revealed.
Under the terms of a recently agreed deal, BT is to establish home office solutions for Unilever staff across Germany and will offer connection management and troubleshooting services.
It is anticipated that Unilever staff involved in selling the company’s various products and services will benefit particularly from the deployment of an "efficient and reliable" home office environment.
Stefan Hischer, director of sales and account management at BT Germany, said: "We have noticed a trend among many of our clients who want to allow their staff to work as flexibly as possible – either from home or on the road.
"BT supports companies with a whole range of solutions and we are delighted that Unilever has given us responsibility for these 1,200 home workstations."
Earlier this year, BT estimated the number of its employees who operate from home at 12,000 and reported some significant cost savings as a result.
