Information systems company Volvo IT has lined up a communications solution that should enable it staff to work outside the office and in some cases from home, according to reports.
A new software system is to be established that will allow Volvo IT’s 17,000 staff members to access the corporate networks from any of the world’s Wi-Fi hotspots.
The company is part of the car making Volvo Group and is aiming to leverage the iPass Mobile Office solution to boost its operations worldwide, reports Computer World UK.
Once the iPass solution has been established it is anticipated that a single intrerface system will enable Volvo IT staff to access any relevant business and operational information they need from wherever they may be.
The Volvo Group is among Volvo IT’s customers, but the IT systems solutions firm also works with a number of other industrial organisations in various parts of the world.
Meanwhile, a study carried out by Unum recently found that British employees are generally less satisfied with their working environment than they were a year ago.
