The drive towards having home-based workers is "gathering pace" across the UK, according to Stephen Beynon, managing director of ntl:Telewest Business.
Mr Beyon suggests that professionals in the UK are increasingly turning to working from home as a way to establish a less stressful life and to escape the trappings of the so-called rat race.
But, despite the growing trend towards homeworking, a full 70 per cent of employees in Britain still do their jobs from a traditional office, recent research from ntl:Telewest Business discovered.
"The pressures of the rat race mean that many people want to work from home permanently or occasionally," Mr Beyon made clear.
"The home working revolution is continuing to gather pace in this country," he added.
Rising numbers of people working from home has seen new kinds of technologies developed and brought to market in recent years to meet new communication demands, a report from Rhetorik concluded.
