HSA, the healthcare insurance group, has backed the calls for the UK to keep up with their European counterparts and allow for flexible working practices, including homeworking.
The company notes that its policy of allowing staff to operate from home and at times that suit their needs has been beneficial and implementing these kind of practices has been a "straightforward" process.
And with the Equal Opportunities Commission reporting recently that the UK has fallen behind much of Europe on this issue, HSA makes clear that its flexible working practices have been a success.
"Staff are the most important resource we have, therefore it is vital we offer them as much help as possible when it comes to flexible working," said Lee Nicholls, HSA’s employer brand and values manager.
"The benefits of our flexible working policy have been clear at HSA and now across the Simplyhealth Group, and we would encourage other companies to consider implementing something similar."
A recent report from the British Chambers of Commerce and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development concluded that small businesses in the UK, as well as larger organisations, can benefit considerably through the implementation of flexible working practices.
