Tesco is planning to create a number of jobs for people who want to work from home.
The supermarket is due to expand a project it began last year with just 33 staff and extend this to over 200 during the next three years, the Scotland Courier reported.
People who apply to work from home in these new jobs will receive training as customer service managers and team leaders at the Dryburgh customer service centre and the supermarket’s nearby stores before being allowed to work from home.
The news is being welcomed by the Dundee economy, as it adds to a substantial number of positions already created by Tesco in the area.
Jamie Hughes, manager at the customer service centre, told the paper, “Over the last five years, we've had an average of 100 new permanent staff joining us each year. At that rate, it wasn't going to be too long before we outgrew our offices and, rather than looking at a new centre elsewhere in the country, this project will help keep jobs in the local area.”
He added that the news of the job creation is “fantastic”, for both Dundee and the wider region.
