Employees appear to be happier and healthier when they are given the opportunity to work from home.
According to a recent survey from Staples Advantage, 86 per cent of people are more productive when they work from home. In addition, 76 per cent feel more loyal to their company since they have stopped commuting to the office everyday.
Even their personal situations appear to be benefiting, with 80 per cent stating that they now have a better work-life balance, while stress levels were shown to have dropped by an average of 25 per cent since working from home.
John Michael, vice-president and general manager of business interiors by Staples, commented: “It's important to make the work-from-home experience a safe, productive and positive one for employees, with quality furniture and a layout that's conducive to maximum efficiency.”
Meanwhile, Ed Ludwigson from the firm’s technology solutions department, warned that IT training and best practices in security should be taught to employees before they work from home.
“Because advances in technology continue to help dissolve geographical barriers, companies should also provide their telecommuters with tools that make it easy and efficient to collaborate and stay connected,” added Mr Ludwigson.
