The teleworking boom being seen in Britain as companies across the country aim to leverage the benefits of having a flexible workforce is presenting business opportunities for a number of technology innovators, according to reports.
Phil Jones, director of Brother UK, told the Manchester Evening News that the increasing number of British employees who operate outside a traditional office environment is having a significant impact on his business.
Brother UK supplies a range of office equipments, from labelling machines to electronic typewriters and Mr Jones suggests that the company will be required to shift its focus given the rising prevalence of home-based offices.
"In Britain, about 46 per cent of people use their Blackberry or laptop to write reports in the evenings at home," Mr Jones told the local new provider.
"By 2020 over 80 per cent will be using technology to work outside their office. We have to reach out to those people and become the homeworking brand of choice for printing."
A report from Reuters earlier this week suggested that some of the world’s largest businesses are now supporting home-based operating among their staff as a way to improve wellbeing among their employees.
