As the UK heads towards enabling a more mobile workforce, thousands of Britons plan to keep in touch with their office over the course of the bank holiday weekend, according to a recent report.

Online insurance firm swiftcover.com suggests that around one in seven UK employees are not happy to leave their work at the office and instead take their laptops with them on holiday.

Blackberries are also becoming an increasingly common sight by the pool as holidaymaking Britons insist on keep informed of what might be going in their place of work, the research also discovered.

"Millions of Brits are now taking hundreds of pounds worth of technology on holiday with them in a move away from the traditional ‘relax and unwind’ holiday activities," commented Craig Staniland, director of underwriting at swiftcover.com.

Meanwhile, Work Wise UK has claimed that operating from home can help relieve stress levels among British employees.
