There are thousands of mobility-restricted people in the UK who could be putting their skills to use as contact centre operatives, but much of their potential remains largely untapped, it has been claimed.
Contact centre experts at Exony maintain that new technology can enable those people who, for a range of reasons, cannot commute on a daily basis to work from their own homes.
Furthermore, citing IDC statistics Exony analysts suggest that the UK is lagging behind the US in this regard, as there are 2,000 remote contact centre operatives in Britain compared to around 112,000 on the other side of the Atlantic.
Chief executive at Exony Ian Ashby remarked: "Home-based employees present a potentially massive talent pool that remains largely untapped by UK contact centres.
"It is time the UK woke up to the benefits and caught up with the US so that home-based workers can use their skills beneficially."
In related news, the Work Wise UK group is gearing up for the National Work From Home Day, which gets underway on Friday May 18th.
