Recent research has revealed that over half of workers in the UK have never worked from home, with many prevented from doing so by their employers.
In a survey of 2,000 office workers across the country, the LG/Vision Critical research found that 50 per cent never work remotely or from home, despite the fact that 35 per cent believe that having the option to do so would make their working life easier.
Furthermore, 23 per cent suggested that having better mobile technology would make things simpler and could encourage them to stay in touch with the office more often.
With bad weather affecting the country and the Christmas break approaching, now could be a great time for businesses to look into the benefits of allowing their employees to work from home. Doing so could help them to continue to work even if they become stranded while travelling for the festive break.
Mark Watson, channel manager from LG UK, observed that businesses seem to be “stuck in the slow lane” when it comes to technology that can enable remote working.
He added: “There are huge benefits to be had for both employees and employers with remote working, which can create a more relaxed and happy workforce, and keep businesses running even in the worst of situations.”
