A new tool developed by telecoms companies Avvenu and Palm could be set to help people who work from home gain access to important information while they are on the move.
The new application is designed for the Palm Foleo "mobile companion" and enables users to access and share any kind of digital data that is stored on their home computer from wherever they may be.
Dubbed Access ‘n Share, the telecoms tool could prove useful for those people whose jobs require them to work flexibly and Palm notes that a range of relevant security features are part of the product package.
"The combination of a Foleo and Avvenu Access ‘n Share gives mobile professionals a direct route to access business-critical information without the worry of carrying everything with them," said Mark Bercow, senior vice president of business development for Palm.
"And the Foleo’s large screen and full-size keyboard is optimal for viewing and editing downloaded PowerPoint or Word documents," he added.
Research by Future Labs for Microsoft recently found that a full 90 per cent of the UK’s workforce would prefer to operate from outside the traditional office environment.
