The number of people working from home looks set to rise over the next decade, if a recent survey of company bosses is to be believed.
Conducted by LM Research as part of the annual Virgin Media Business study, the research took into account the views of 5,000 company bosses. It revealed that the interviewees believe around 60 per cent of employees will work from home within the next decade.
Furthermore, 72 per cent of those questioned stated that face-to-face meetings with customers and prospects are likely to become a thing of the past as businesses prioritise improvements in their connectivity to allow staff to work from home should they wish.
Tiny Grace, chief operating officer of Virgin Media Business, commented: “There’s a change coming to the way we work. Remote working isn’t anything new, but with technology providing the right tools for the job, the acceptance that it will soon be the norm is.”
He added that companies are looking into investments in cloud-based software, as well as virtual private networks and unified communications in order to prepare for the move towards remote working.
