Working from home offers a number of benefits, including the chance to organise your day in a way that suits you.
However, one of the downsides that is brought up again and again, is the fact that working from home can get lonely. While those who head to an office everyday have the hassle of strict working hours and a long commute, they benefit from the social factor of their jobs, chatting with colleagues and taking lunch with workmates.
To tackle this problem for homeworkers, one cafe has set up a homeworkers lunch event. The Cottingham Village Store and Cafe is hosting the weekly event every Wednesday at 12:30pm. It will invite those who are usually sat at home on their own to come down for soup and a free drink and a chat with others in a similar situation.
The local Evening Telegraph reported that the events are primarily designed as to satisfy the social needs of homeworkers rather than as networking lunches for business development.
The events have been launched after the cafe and village shop reopened in 2011 following several years of closure.
