Mark Lewis, the senior director of marketing and alliances at Riverbed Technology, says that working from home can boost staff members’ productivity.
Lewis says that providing home working options can boost productivity as workers have far fewer distractions than when working in an office environment.
Lewis says, “there are a number of technologies in place today from a number of organisations, where people can not only access remote applications and files but get access to these with ease and speed.” He is an advocate of providing this type of infrastructure to provide better working terms for employees and opportunities for more flexible working for people with children.
Recent research found that 50 per cent of workers said their bosses were skeptical about the benefits of allowing home working. Many think their bosses presume they will not do certain tasks while they are out of the office, despite the fact that there is no evidence to back up this claim.
Home working has been found to boost staff morale and reduce the number of sick days people take. Productivity also increases among home workers.
