In a move that is likely to be welcomed by anyone who has a home office, Virgin Media is launching its own business broadband packages.
The internet service provider is rebranding NTL: Telewest Business as its own Virgin Media Business product. It says its new packages are intended to “become the clear alternative to BT.”
Each business customer who takes the business broadband packages will be assigned their own “regionally based account team to manage their needs,” according to Virgin Media.
Its chief executive officer Neil Berkett said, “our next generation consumer services, in broadband and video-on-demand, are unrivalled in speed and quality of service. There is now a significant opportunity to leverage the full power of our fibre optic network in the business telecoms market.”
The provider is offering cable broadband packages of 4Mb, 10Mb or 20Mb that can all be bundled with landline calls. There are also plans to begin offering super-fast 50Mb broadband to its business customers later in 2010.
Berkett says the market is currently “underserved” and that an “alternative to BT” is needed in the business broadband industry.
