A new report has highlighted the difficulties facing parents in the UK who work long hours in the office and struggle to find time for their children.
With a number of organisations already calling for home-based working to become more widespread in the UK, the Children’s Society has revealed that 61 per cent of British parents feel they are unable to spend enough time with their children because of professional commitments.
Furthermore, close to half (48 per cent) of those polled by GfK NOP recently said they had little choice but to put their career ahead of being with their children.
Bob Reitemeier, chief executive of the Children’s Society, said: "Family is hugely important in the lives of all children yet modern society appears to be pulling them apart.
"Only by taking a closer look at how a child’s need for family can be met in the context of the 21st century can we ensure a good childhood for all children."
The ongoing Work Wise UK initiative is convinced that operating from home enables parents to balance their professional and family commitments more effectively.
