Working from home may be assisted by the uptake of electronic systems, it has been claimed.
Computers allow for administration work to be carried out off-site and add to the flexibility of many positions, reports MeatInfo.co.uk.
The website reports the case of Celly Donlan, an employee of AA Quality Meat, who was recently awarded the south-west learning at work accolade.
She undertook a course which taught her how to use a computer to improve the operation of the business, including establishing internet access for the first time.
"I’ve consolidated my working hours from five days a week to two days a week, leaving me more time with my children and the ability to work from home," Ms Donlan told the publication.
"Even my boss has a computer now and everything is there electronically for others in the company to use."
A recent study conducted by the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform found that 21 per cent of employees would welcome the opportunity to work from home above all other workplace benefits.
